Meeting the standards of Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 04-01 - Safe Water in Healthcare Premises is a requirement for care homes, regulated activities and registration with the CQC.
HTM 04-01 is referenced by the HSE's ACOP L8 and requires higher standards of design and management of hot and cold-water systems than other types of sites, the Building Regulations or the Water Regulations. HTM 04-01 requires the use of specialist contractors and Water Safe registered plumbers to ensure public health.
Are You "Maintaining" Your TMV Valves? Maintenance for the sake of maintainance is not a requirement of either the ACOP L8, HTM 04-01 or Specification D08. TMV valves should be temperature monitored, inspected and fail safe checked. It is only when a maintenance need is identified is maintenance required.
