Do You Use Dipslide?  The ACOP L8 identifies the use of dip slides for aerobic bacteria only and not for hot and cold water systems.  HTM 01-05 states in section 6.78 "Apart from situations where there are indications from taste or odour, microbiological monitoring using dip slides for TVC's is not considered essential.  HTM 01-05 section 19.68 and HTM 04-01 part B section 9.3 states "All microbiological measurements should be by approved methods and/or be carried out by UKAS accredited laboratories.  Dip slides are not acceptable."  If your services providers are selling you dip slides or their training courses are advising the use dip slides they are acting outside the scope of the HSE's ACOP L8, HTM 04-01 and HTM 01-05.
